#STEVEN UNIVERSE SEASON 1 5 DVD SERIES#
"Political Power" is not, per se, necessary, but it's better for the pacing and tension building if you do watch it.ġx31: Keep Beach City Weird - heavy foreshadow.ġx38: The Test - one of the most underrated episodes in the series beautiful ending and amazing character writing for all four mains.Įxplanation: The episodes listed are important parts of the main Gem plot (The Cluster and the Peridot's arc, new powers, etc.).
Also, the episode is referenced a couple of times and it has one major clue to the main twist of the season. I was really torn on "Fusion Cuisine" because while Alexandrite has a second "introduction" in Season 3, Connie's parents do not. "House Guest" is such a horrendous episode (Greg acts incredibly immature and out-of-character), but it helps the viewer understand the lack of Steven's use of power in the following episodes. Here's my take on which episodes are necessary in order for new viewers to grasp the main Gem story or if some of you want a quick re-watch.Įxplanation: All these episodes introduce something Gem-related (information about Rose Quartz's past, new Steven's powers, fusion, etc.).ġx09: Tiger Millionaire - Such a fun little episode that starts shaping the characterization of Amethyst and her sibling-like relationship with Steven.ġx18: Beach Party - This one gave me a really good laugh and Nanefua is truly a blessing.Įxplanation: The episodes listed are important parts of the main Gem plot (new Gems, new powers, Rose Quartz, etc.) with some exceptions.
While I personally find the episodes that involve the humans of Beach City an integral part of SU's story and Steven's character development, the consensus around the fandom is that those could be considered fillers in some way or another.
